Liyana Swirsky

I am a 3rd year PhD student studying cognitive aging in the Memory and Decision Processes lab in the psychological science stream at Ryerson University. My research investigates the role of motivation in supporting cognitive processes that change with healthy aging. Specifically, I study the effects of both intrinsic (e.g., curiosity) and extrinsic (e.g., money) rewards on age differences in attention and episodic memory. I am passionate about studying these motivation-cognition interactions in aging to help inform interventions aimed at enhancing cognitive processes that undergo normative age-related change. In my free time, I love to bake!
